Our Projects

Grandpa’s Workshop shop

The  shop has, and will have, a full set of wood working equipment and tools to tackle any projects from whittling to a covered wooden bridge. Only the Members’ ingenuity and drive will limit the projects.

  • Emphasis on salvaged raw woods (pallets, construction site cuttings, old barnwood)
  •  Wood turning
  • Wood carving
  • Barn wood projects
  • Pull toys, bird houses, raised garden boxes, …
  • Three double-sided work benches
  • Extensive set of power tools
  • Many hand and portable tools

Members have tackled projects like the following:

The Village Blacksmith

  • Any metal projects
  • Metal sculptures
  • Forge projects
  • Welding projects
  • Stationery (Hit ‘n’ Miss) engines
  • Lincoln MIG welder
  • Power metal cutting bandsaw
  • Metal shaping drill mill
  • Large forge

We dream of building one-of-a kind metal sculptures consistent with Members ingenuity and motivation.

Dave’s Garage

The Amonson heritage includes Fort St. John, BC. One of the settlers in Fort St. John was Dave Chiuli who owned and operated the Ford dealership and garage in the town. His business had a distinctive sign “Dave’s Garage” which seems appropriate for our heritage and because Dave Amonson has been instrumental in launching the Men’s Shed.

Any vehicle projects are welcome (we prefer restoration and customization projects but tire changes, oil changes, bulb replacements, and similar maintenance projects can be integrated).

  • Sophisticated analyzer available
  • Auto Lift
  • Restoring 1927 Chev one ton truck

Main Street

The members have approved our target of building a European style main street with sidewalk tables and chairs. We are optimistic we can find a suitable “for-profit” business who can supply the European styled walls as a team building exercise for their staff of qualified European craftsmen and thereby assist in the funding of this special, social area.

  • Coffee, tea, and cookies
  • Own lunches encouraged

Inspiration for a street setting of tables and chairs where Members can socialize and strengthen bonds.
